I promise…

Throughout my life, I will perform brotherhood in all places and conditions and I will put a smile on the world. I promise, Daddy…– Feel the Favour

Smiling was perhaps the only written rule in our family. My father, who was patient with everything, never tolerated frowning. If he saw our faces sullen and bored, he would sit my brother and me on his knee and say, "Tell me, the flowers of my heart that do not fade, what rain has erased your smile?" and he would somehow manage to plant smile seeds on our faces.
Feel the Favour
ı promise..

He wanted us to be happy at home, in the field, at school, on the street, wherever and whatever work we were engaged in, and to appreciate what we had, most notably our family and fraternal ties. Because my father grew up in a crowded but happy family. Even if they were hungry or lost their homes due to the floods, they always found beauty that would make their lives more enjoyable. But my father got along not only with his own family, but with everyone he knew, constantly looking for ways to make someone’s life happy.

He still hasn’t given up on that habit.I remember that when we weren’t going to school yet, we hosted our next-door neighbor, whose house was rotting and destroyed, in our one-room house for a few months. Of course, when I was very young, I couldn’t understand why my father was so happy and smiling despite the difficult circumstances. It was only after my brother was born that I began to understand my father. When my brother and I went to the field to help my father, we would always support each other. Especially since I was her older sister, I used to be burdened with what she was carrying as she got tired. And as I helped him, as I carried his burdens, I would notice that my own burden was lightened, a smile that glowed like the spring sun was put on my face. It turns out that this magical thing that makes people happy, that harnesses the fire of humanity in your heart and puts a big smile sun on your face is called brotherhood.

But not just lineage, lineage, not lineage. A brotherhood that embraces the whole world and people with the joy of being human. Even if there is no blood bond between them, a brotherhood that establishes a bond of heart and makes people look in the same direction in different places is what makes people so happy. My Daddy, who hides the compassion of labor in his calloused hands! Now I know your secret. Don’t worry, even though I am a little girl of school age, I will perform brotherhood in all places and conditions throughout my life and I will smile at the world. I promise, Daddy…
